Job Profile

We are seeking an experienced Lifting Appointed Person to manage our local and oversee lifting operations. This role is crucial for ensuring safely, efficient and compliant execution of lifting tasks, Risk assessments and Method statements from planning to execution. The Lifting Appointed Person will take operational control of the lift, ensure all safety and regulatory requirements are met, and manage the personnel involved in crane operations.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Control

  • The Appointed Person assumes full operational control of lifting tasks, including planning, coordinating, and executing the lift.
  • Ensure compliance with detailed lift plans, ensuring all necessary controls are in place.
  • Ensure the lift is carried out following the plan. Suspend the lift if changes or conditions occur that would cause a deviation from the plan.

Team Leadership

  • Lead a team of Crane Operators, Riggers and Banksmen for Safe Lifting Practices across different locations of the organization.
  • Monitor the performance of all personnel involved to ensure that adequate standards of performance are maintained.
  • Manage any special issues such as language barriers and new/inexperienced staff.

Equipment & Safety

  • Select the appropriate crane and lifting accessories for each task.
  • Ensure that the lifting equipment is maintained, examined, and appropriate for use.
  • Ensure all required test certificates and documentation are available and up to date.
  • Ensure all other statutory requirements and any necessary work permits are in place.
  • Identify all hazards and restricted areas.
  • Ensure that the person directing crane movement is readily identifiable to the crane operator by wearing high visibility clothing or distinguishing markings.
  • Develop and implement emergency procedures in case of damage or impairment to the crane during operation, and for safe recovery of the crane to a holding location on the installation.

Planning & Documentation

  • Prepare and develop the lift plan, RA and method statements.
  • Able to write Lifting plans, supervise and execute critical lifting in oil & gas companies.
  • Verify that routine lifts adhere to established standards without deviation.

Communication & Coordination

  • Briefs people involved in or affected by the lift.
  • Coordinate crane operators, riggers and other personnel involved with the lifting operations.

Qualifications

  • At least Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Must be knowledgeable for Lifting Equipment through examination (LEEA Entry Exam and Diplomas is an added value).
  • Willing to be trained (4-days Appointed Person Course) by an ADNOC Offshore Approved Training Provider using approved Tutor and be assessed every 3 years.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in oil & gas offshore and onshore lifting related experience, with at least 5 years in a similar position.
  • Proven experience with mobile and crawler cranes, including equipment and gear handling.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities, with an emphasis on motivating and inspiring teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations and with the ability to assess and manage risks.
  • Familiar with international standards related to Lifting engineering practices with sufficient knowledge in interpretation and to bring excellence in Change management.
  • Strong communication skills in English (both written and verbal).
